Chelsea lining up move for Thomas Lemar as Monaco contract talks are put on hold

Chelsea are weighing up a transfer move for Thomas Lemar, according to reports in France.

Lemar has scored 14 goals in 62 appearances for Monaco since making his debut for the Ligue 1 giants in 2015 but the 21-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months.

L’Equipe suggest that Antonio Conte’s Chelsea, as well as Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, are interested in the young France midfielder.

It’s understood Lemar’s talks over a new deal at Monaco have been put on hold for the time being which would allow the French outfit to jack up potential fee demands.

Chelsea readying shock move for top-class £30m star as contract talks are halted

Monaco currently value Lemar at around £30million after buying the promising starlet for just £3.4m from Caen two years ago.

Conte is believed to be scouring the market for midfielder reinforcements ahead of the summer transfer window and Lemar, among others, have emerged as targets.

Lemar’s Monaco team-mate, Tiemoue Bakayoko, also remains on Conte’s radar.
